Heidi Jardine Stoddart

Brief Biography

Heidi Jardine Stoddart was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, and grew up in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. She completed her B.A. in English & French at Wilfrid Laurier University ('89), her B.Ed. at the University of Western Ontario ('90), and her M.A. in Art Education at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design ('97). Heidi was a full-time elementary teacher in Ontario for several years before returning to the Maritimes in 2000. She currently lives in Rothesay, New Brunswick, where she works as a freelance artist, illustrator, writer and educator.

Heidi is the author and illustrator of two children's books, East to the Sea and A Nothing-To-Do Day. She finds inspiration in childhood memories and the whimsical, wondrous imaginations of children who see magic in everyday things. Her work has been featured in interviews on CBC radio, "Mary Ann's Pages" on Rogers Cable, ATV's "Breakfast Television" and "Live at Five". East to the Sea is a Canadian Children's Book Centre Our Choice selection.
