Sara Jewell has worked as a radio newscaster, freelance writer and high school substitute teacher. She published her first article, in DogFancy magazine, in 1998 and the following year, she became a columnist with The United Church Observer magazine; after ten years, she "retired" to focus on writing a book.
After living in Vancouver for five years, Sara moved home to spend the summer writing and rejuvenating at her family's summer home in Nova Scotia. Her father's diagnosis with Alzheimer's disease turned that one summer into five years of living at home helping to take care of him. In 2007, Sara moved permanently to Nova Scotia, where she has discovered new depths of creativity.
Participating in the 2010 Mentorship Program was an extraordinary opportunity and, with the guidance of mentor, Maureen Hull, Sara made the most of it, completing a memoir for which she is seeking representation.
