Sarah Emsley

Brief Biography

Sarah Emsley writes primarily about Jane Austen's life and works, women writers who were influenced by Austen, and Canadian - especially Nova Scotian - history. She grew up in Halifax and received her PhD from Dalhousie University before spending time in Oxford, England, as a postdoctoral fellow at the Rothermere American Institute, and then in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she taught classes on Jane Austen in the Writing Program at Harvard University. In 2008, she returned home to Halifax to focus on writing. She is currently working on a novel.
