Judy Dudar

Brief Biography

Judy Dudar was raised in Alberta. She studied education at the University of Edmonton before moving to Nova Scotia with her husband and family in 1966. Family moves then took her to Vancouver, Norway, and England. After completing her BA, MA and Ph.D. she taught in the Departments of English at Dalhousie, Saint Mary's and Mount St. Vincent Universities. As a VSO volunteer from 2000-2002, she taught in a rural Tanzanian secondary school.

Her post-graduate theses considered the poetry of Margaret Avison and discussed the lives lived--vs the lives they claimed to have lived--by writers Archibald Belaney (Grey Owl), Felix Paul Greve (Frederick Philip Grove) and Ernest Dufault (Will James). Her writing credits include academic articles, book reviews, and light articles. For several years she interviewed authors on Title Waves on CKDU. She participated in Tatamagouche Centre's Community of Writers in 2004 and Word on the Page in 2008. Under the auspices of the WFNS Mentorship program, she had the privilege this year of working with Sylvia Gunnery.

Her first children's book, I Spy a Bunny (illustrated by Richard Rudnicki) was published by Nimbus in 2009.
