Valerie Compton writes fiction and non-fiction and teaches fiction writing. Her non-fiction articles and reviews have been published in The Globe and Mail, Gourmet (US) and The Citizen (Ottawa), among others. Valerie was born on Prince Edward Island and now lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her novel, Tide Road, was published in March of 2011 by Goose Lane Editions.
Valerie participated in WFNS's day of pannel discussions, The Writing Life, in April 2010 as part of the Atlantic Book Awards Festival, giving a talk about rejection and jealousy in writers' careers. You can read Valerie's remarks here.
