Valerie Compton (Halifax, NS). Valerie Compton edits fiction and narrative nonfiction. She works with new and established writers. Services include: substantive editing, line editing, copyediting, and mentoring. Editing is tailored to the needs of the manuscript and writer. Occasionally, Valerie leads workshops in self-editing for fiction writers. Experience: Valerie Compton is author of the novel Tide Road, a finalist for the Thomas Head Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award. Her short fiction has appeared in The Malahat Review, The New Quarterly, Riddle Fence, and many other publications. She began as a book reviewer in 1991 and has worked as an independent editor, mentor, and workshop leader since 2005. Tim Covell (Halifax, NS). Tim offers copy editing, structural editing, manuscript evaluation, reference checking, and formatting for poems, articles, stories, and books. He has recently edited and indexed an academic book, and several academic articles and book chapters. He works as a technical writer, and has published poetry, short fiction, essays, and academic articles. Tim also offers website design, upgrading, and tutoring, using WordPress. He has assisted several local authors update and expand their WordPress sites.
Kayla Geitzler is a host for the Attic Owl Reading Series and works as an editorial assistant for The Fiddlehead and Galleon magazines. As a professional technical editor and writer, she has worked on some of Canada’s largest petroleum pipeline installation projects and most recently, writing and designing operational training courseware in the air traffic control industry. Kayla currently runs her own business, the Golden Hour, where she offers various writing and editing services, as well corporate communication consultation and creative writing mentoring.
Cheryl Harding (Halifax, NS). Proofreading for all types of documents. Clients have especially requested my assistance on résumés, cover letters, and science documents. Melanie Pitman (Edit 4 Me) (Halifax, NS). Edit 4 Me offers a variety of editing-related services. Anne Camozzi (Antigonish, NS). Licensing of art for book design. My art reproduces well in many forms and has been used in calendars, websites, magazine covers and cards. Think about original art for your book! licensing fees are reasonable and based on the print run of the book and how art is used.
