In the 1950s, at the height of the Cold War with the Soviet Union, thousands of young men from various countries were recruited to build and operate a complex radar system across the Arctic Circle from Alaska across Canada to Greenland. The Distant Early Warning (DEW) Line was spawned from American fear that Soviet bomber aircraft might penetrate Canadian Arctic airspace and drop nuclear weapons on American cities and military bases. This book tells the stories of those DEW Liners who worked in the hostile, remote climate of the North.

Adieu, My Love

Marie Jubert, a widow in the French Fortress of Louisbourg, is horrified to see the schooner Donna Rae put into port. The schooner, in which Marie is a secret investor, has been seized for smuggling, putting her business ventures and her ability to support her two children at risk.

On board the ship is Matthew Cartier, an English Protestant, who is taken to the Fortress Louisbourg as a prisoner. Marie gets close to Matthew, hoping to discover if he knows her secret and will turn her in. In the process, the two are drawn to one another and Marie is torn when her feelings for this stranger conflict with her desire to keep her children out of jeopardy.

Author and screenwriter Lynn M. Turner has published eight novels. She's also sold numerous film and television scripts, and worked in television production. She lives in the Annapolis Valley.

Richard is currently heard predicting the fickle Maritime weather on Rogers Radio in Halifax, Moncton and Saint John.
