The Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia is pleased to partner with Teichert Gallery in presenting an exhibition of illustration this fall.

1,000 Words will be a group show of work by Nova Scotia artists working in illustration. It will take place the last two weeks of November at Teichert Gallery (formerly Art Sales and Rental), 1723 Hollis Street, Halifax. The exhibition is conceived as a way of promoting Nova Scotian illustrators and their work, as well as raising funds and the profile of the WFNS.

Submitting your work:

-          There is no fee to submit work
-          Submissions will be juried by a volunteer accessions committee. Artwork must arrive by 3 pm on the Sunday before (Nov. 2) the committee meets (Nov. 4)
-          Artists are responsible for delivering and picking up their work to and from the gallery
-          Please mark the artist name, title and date on the back of each work.
-          Up to five works will be considered by the committee for 1,000 Words. Artists will be notified to pick up work that is not accepted.

Expectations of the gallery:

-          Framed work, gallery canvas, limited edition prints (editions no more than 50) or photographs (signed and numbered by the artist) will be considered for 1,000 Words.
-          Works must be ready to hand when submitted to the gallery. Please see Teichert’s Framing Standards.

The Call for Submissions:

-          The dates for the Call for Submissions are still being finalized.
-          Paperwork, as well as jpegs of artworks saved to a USB and artist biography, should be submitted to the gallery. For more details, please see Teichert Gallery’s Accession Policy.
